October 2020 emerging and diverse manager roundtable discussions

November 2020

As Meketa is committed to making a positive impact within the asset management industry, we continue our efforts to include more emerging and diverse managers into our pool of managers. Our Public and Private Markets Emerging and Diverse Manager Research Days enable us to discover new managers and new opportunities.

This year, in conjunction with our Research Days, we were pleased to include LP and GP Roundtable Discussions. We felt these panels would be helpful to our participating managers, so they could hear directly from limited partners (LPs) about their emerging and diverse programs, and from general partners (GPs) about how they succeeded in the business. LP participants included Laurie Martin, CIO of Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trusts; Scott Chan, Deputy CIO of California State Teachers’ Retirement System; and Doug Wesley, CIO of State Universities Retirement System of Illinois. GP participants included Debbie Harmon, Co-Founder & CEO of Artemis Real Estate Partners; Jeri Andrews, Head of Diversity, Inclusion, & Human Capital of GQG Partners; Sam Ramirez Jr., President & CEO of Ramirez Asset Management and Senior Partner of Ramirez & Company; and Frank Baker, Co-Founder & Managing Partner of Siris Capital.
